立体的な軌跡　/　Intertwining Rail

　絵画が描くものはつねに実体ではなく影だ。もし絵画のはじまりが洞窟画なら、絵画とは凹凸に映る影（平らな図像）だろう。西洋絵画はそれを反転させ、平面の上に凹凸（立体感、奥行き）を描いた。この自然からの反転こそ、Art（芸術、人工）のテクニックなのかもしれない。ならばそれをもう一度反転してみせることもアートのテクニックなのだ。キルティング生地の上に平面的な図像を描く。私はその図像もまた実体ではなく凹凸やグリッド状の分割の上でわずかに揺らぐ影のようであって欲しい。それはかつて洞窟画を描いた者たちが見た、炎の中で揺らぐ自分たちの影のように。

What paintings depict are always shadows, not entities. If painting began as cave paintings, then painting would be shadows (flat images) reflected on uneven surfaces. Western paintings inverted this concept and depicted unevenness (three-dimensionality and depth) on a flat surface. This inversion from nature may be the technique of Art (art, artificiality). If so, reversing it once again is also a technique of art. Draw a flat figure on the quilted fabric. I want the iconography also to be like a shadow that wavers slightly over the unevenness and grid-like divisions, rather than an entity. It is like the shadows that cave painters once saw, shimmering in the flames.
